The Michigan Basic Cancer Pathology Lexicon Project www.michigancancer.org/CancerPlan/BasicCaPathLexiconProject.cfm
Launched in response to the MCC Basic Lexicon Priority, the Michigan Basic Cancer Pathology Lexicon Project involved the creation of scientifically valid basic pathology lexicon templates for all common cancer types. After pilot testing and evaluating the draft templates to ensure that they were clinically usable and user-friendly, project collaborators released the final templates in September 2005. The templates, which had received the endorsement of the Michigan Cancer Registrars Association, the Michigan Society of Hematology and Oncology, and the Michigan Society of Pathologists, were revised in April 2007. As of September 2010, the MCC Board of Directors recommended that the Consortium no
longer revise the MCC basic lexicon templates; rather the Board of Directors recommends
using the lexicon templates developed by the College of American
Pathologists.
