Michigan Health Go Local -- Your link to health services

The Michigan Health Go Local Web portal, which had been providing health services information to Michigan residents since January 2007, ceased operation Dec. 1, 2010 due to a withdrawal of funding and support from the National Library of Medicine.  The Michigan portal was part of the MedlinePlus Go Local initiative introduced by the National Library of Medicine in 2000.

The Vera P. Shiffman Medical Library at Wayne State University, which developed the Michigan database used by the program, has announced that although it has been unable to obtain ongoing local support for the Michigan-based web resource, it is collaborating with regional partners to share the data from the project to benefit Michigan residents. In the interim, the library staff recommend the following resources for Michigan residents:

  • MedlinePlus (trusted health information for the public);

  • MedlinePlus Directories (a collection of directories to help identify health services in Michigan); and

  • Michigan 2-1-1 (a map of Michigan counties connecting to 2-1-1 call centers to locate health and social services).
