About the Program The program seeks to: 1) educate men about prostate health and encourage each of them to talk with their healthcare professional about their relative risk, and 2) promote informed decision-making concerning prostate testing. Additionally, the program can be utilized to inform men about clinical prevention trials that could help change the incidence and mortality of prostate cancer. The MCC Prostate Health Awareness Program was developed for the Consortium by the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute; funding was provided by the Michigan Department of Community Health and administered by the Michigan Public Health Institute in support of the MCC. An additional presentation specifically for Hispanic audiences was developed and focus-group tested for the Consortium by Wayne State University under the guidance of Karmanos; that program is now available in both English and Spanish. About the Tool Kit This online tool kit contains electronic copies of all the materials distributed during the March 2007 training workshop. It also includes an updated listing of individuals throughout the state who are available to speak to audiences about prostate health and/or train other volunteer educators to present the MCC Prostate Health Awareness Program materials.
