Cancer Control Awareness Month -
Ideas for Activities

There are many outreach and educational activities that can be implemented during Cancer Control Awareness Month in April. Below are just some of the events and activities that your organization can coordinate or sponsor to increase awareness about cancer.

Please consider being a sponsor or a co-sponsor of a special event or activity this year and in future years to help get the message about cancer awareness to people within your organization or your community, or to specific target audiences.

Special Note: The third week of April is Minority Cancer Awareness Week. Check the Monthly Theme Calendar & Resources page for ideas about promoting Minority Cancer Awareness Week. Consider sponsoring activities that promote both of April's themes.
  • Run a pre-recorded telephone message about the importance of cancer screening that clients can listen to while on hold at your organization. (MCC member idea)

  • Get your organization involved in dissemination of the MCC Cancer Early Detection Recommendations (MCC member idea)
